Unlocking Your Creator Power: The Question that Transforms Reality

Finding Your Creator Self Through a Simple Question

Why did I create that?

This is one of the most powerful little tricks I use to reconnect with my true essence—the “creator self,” my “I AM Presence.” Whenever I feel lost or disconnected, I ask myself, “Why did I create that?”

Most of us, outside of meditation, tend to slip into reactionary mode—responding instinctively to whatever appears in our reality. My golden rule is simple: whatever you react to, becomes your current reality. Fear and lack, for example, don’t actually exist in the purest sense, but if I react to them as a creator, I inadvertently give them life by focusing on them.

By giving your attention to something, you are essentially declaring that it exists and that you want it to persist. On the flip side, ignoring those same things and giving zero focus to them signals they are not real—and will not appear in your reality. The truth is, what we focus on expands. When you acknowledge and focus on a problem or lack, you are feeding it energy, causing it to grow larger in your experience. Conversely, ignoring a problem sends the message that it doesn’t exist.

The Power of Focus and Manifestation

I tell my Sunday mastermind group to picture  laser beams emanating from their eyes, shining constantly on whatever they’re looking at. These beams instantly cause what they focus on to grow and magnify—whether it’s a problem, a bill, or a moment of depression. Would you direct these laser beams at worries, doubts, or fears? No way! But the truth is, that’s exactly what you’re doing every time you focus on lack or negativity. You’re creating it.

Remember, your focus shapes your reality. You are incredibly powerful in this regard.

The Wealth Connection: Focus Shapes Reality

This is why the wealthy tend to become wealthier, and those in scarcity remain in lack. The rich focus on abundance, aligning their energy with prosperity, while those experiencing poverty often focus on what they don’t have. Whatever your focus, growth follows—in wealth, health, relationships, and beyond.

From Reaction to Creation: Embracing Your Inner Power

To stay out of reactionary mode, it’s essential to consciously shift into creation mode. Remember, everything outside of you is a projection from within. People and circumstances are reflections meant to reveal what’s inside your subconscious mind. When something appears in your life, instead of reacting with frustration, ask, “Why did I create that?” — and shift your focus from victimhood to mastery.

A reactive person might ask, “Why is this happening TO me?” While a creator-minded individual asks, “Why did I create that?” This simple shift can instantly redirect your energy and perception. Practice this for a few days and notice how it snaps you back into your true power.

Turning Problems into Opportunities for Growth

When faced with challenges, instead of reacting negatively, own them as your creations. They are not enemies; they are opportunities for growth and spiritual expansion. Recognizing that you created these situations means you can also change them. When you own your creative power, problems transform from obstacles into lessons and catalysts for awakening.

The Power of Self-Reflection: A Transformative Counseling Example

Recently, I had a client—a woman—who was upset about someone in her life disrespecting her blatantly. She asked me how she should handle their disrespectful attitude. She also wondered why she kept attracting similar behaviors from different people.

Instead of focusing on “Why is this happening to me?”, I shifted her perspective by asking, “Why did you create this?” After a moment of silence, the realization set in—it was a profound awakening. The disrespectful attitude she was experiencing was actually within her, and she created an outside character to mirror what was hidden inside.

This was a huge insight for her: the external disrespect was a reflection of her internal state. By recognizing this, she saw that she was the creator of both her outer world. The character outside was simply a mirror, showing her what she had buried within. When she understood that, her perception shifted dramatically. She no longer saw herself as a victim but as a conscious creator, capable of transforming her experience by changing her inner landscape. Once that program was deleted within, she no longer “attracted” (created) disrespectful people in her reality.

Awareness and Accountability: The Real Keys

Remember, you are creating everything in your life—your reactions, your circumstances, your feelings. The challenge lies in recognizing which parts of your subconscious are driving this creation. That’s why accountability groups and self-awareness are so powerful—they help you catch yourself slipping into reaction instead of creation.

I do a much better job explaining it in my course Why Am I Here? in case you are interested.

When someone points out, “Why did you create that?”, it immediately prompts a shift in perspective. It’s a gentle but powerful reminder that you hold the key to your reality.

A Wake-Up Call

You are here to wake up—to realize your true power as a creator. Whatever you react to, remember: it becomes your reality. The goal is to stay conscious, ask yourself empowering questions, and consciously choose what you create.

Happy Creating,

Coach Joe
